Doctor, one who cures

I met Doctor Moothachan a few days ago.  Whatsapp video call. Moothachan called me from Ranjiettan's phone.  First time in my 17 years of Australian life I am talking to Moothachan over the phone. But I was ready for the call. In fact, I was expecting it.  For the last 2 weeks, I've been reading "Mountains beyond mountains". The book explores the life and works of Dr Paul Farmer, the doctor who is popularly known for introducing community-based treatment strategies to control multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) and AIDS. "Dokte Pol", as his patients in poor Haiti call him is referred to by the author of the book as "the man who would cure the world". After completing his medical training from Harvard, Dr Farmer chose a life dedicated to serving the poor in Haiti, Peru, Cuba, Russia and many other countries.  The book is truly inspirational. It forced me to look at my own life and the world around me using a different set of eyes. At least momentarily. ...
